Chadi in the records

Chadi belongs to the Rupawat share rather than the Patawat one. The published clan history records that when Rao Jodha divided villages among his brothers in Samvat 1532 (1475 CE), Pata received Karnu, Chotila and Ridmalsar, while Rupa received Panchori, Punasar, Chadi and Bhednad. From that division the two houses — Rupawat and Patawat — lived side by side in Phalodi and together kept guard over the Phalodi thana.

The village appears again in the grant records centuries later: in Samvat 1889 (1832 CE), Rupawat Isar Singh was given the patta of Chadi in exchange for Bhed. Chadi is documented here because the two houses share one origin and one pargana; the relationship between them runs through the whole record, including the long feud that followed the killing of Kisandas.
