Community

हमारी संस्था

Twenty-nine villages, one lineage, and a record being rebuilt by the people it belongs to.

What this community is

The Patawats are one lineage spread across many villages of Phalodi and beyond — and, in the last two generations, across cities and countries as well. What was once held together by living side by side is now held together by choice.

This is a community-run effort. There is no institution behind it and no staff — only families who decided that the record of where we came from was worth assembling before it thinned out further. Everything on this site was contributed, and everything still missing is missing because nobody has sent it yet.

You are welcome here whether your family has stayed in the village or left it four decades ago. The people furthest away often turn out to hold the oldest photographs.

Where we actually talk

How to join us

Day to day, this community lives on WhatsApp and Facebook rather than on this website. The site is the record; those are the conversation.

Open decision

Have your say

Decisions that belong to the whole community should not be made by whoever happens to be in the room. The survey below is open, and the current question is a real one that has not been settled: where the Rao Pato Ji memorial should stand.

You may answer anonymously if you prefer. Leaving your number only matters if you want to be told what was decided.

What we are working on

In progress

Rao Pato Ji Memorial & Statue

A memorial to the founder of the clan. The location is still open — see the survey above. Read what the records establish about him on the Rao Pato Ji page.

Under way

Digital Heritage & Research Library

The archive being assembled now — manuscripts, royal letters, census pages and genealogies, translated and cited. Already partly public in Documents & Archives.

Proposed

Community Education Campus

Two acres for higher education and competitive-examination coaching — the argument being that a community that documents its past should also equip its future.

Proposed

Scholarship Fund

Community-funded support for students in higher education and professional courses.

Nothing here is funded by an outside body. If you want to help decide which of these moves first, register your interest →

Everyone who contributes is named

When someone sends a document, a photograph or a recording that ends up on this site, their name and their source go on the page. Not in a list at the bottom of the site — on the page their material made possible.

This is deliberate. A community archive is not built by an institution paying researchers; it is built by a person deciding to photograph the papers in their grandfather's trunk on a Sunday afternoon. That deserves to be recorded as plainly as the history itself.

The same applies to corrections. If you show us that something here is wrong, the page changes and the correction is credited. We would much rather be corrected than be quietly wrong.

Patawat Pargana

Preserving the legacy of Rao Pato Ji and uniting every Patawat family across generations.
