पातावत वंशावली
The branches and generation lines of the Patawat Rathores, from Rao Pato Ji to the thakurs of the Phalodi thikanas.
Rao Pato Ji (Pata Ridmalot), son of Rao Ridmal (Ranmal) and brother of Rao Jodha, received the village of Karnu with Chotila, Ridmalsar and others in Samvat 1532 (1475 CE) as a brother’s share. The khyat of Thikana Aau traces the deeper Rathore origin from Rao Sihoji, who came from Kannauj — recording the clan’s Gautam gotra, the Yajurveda as its Veda, and Chakreshwari as the family goddess. The same sheet follows Asthanji from Kannauj down to Pali in Marwar, where he freed the town from raiders carrying off its wealth by night. From Pata’s three known sons descend all the branches of the clan.
The Kalawat branch is recorded as the second-largest; its exact descent point is with the History Committee for confirmation.
The published thikana records give pidhi (generation) lines, counted from Rao Pato Ji. The Aau line is confirmed three ways — by the published history, by the thikana table, and by royal letters addressed to its thakurs.
3. Hamir → 4. Ratansingh → 5. Kilandas → 6. Ramsingh → 7. Isardas → 8. Rajsingh → 9. Ranchhordas → 10. Sanwaldas → 11. Khinvkaran → 12. Prithviraj → 13. Sarup Singh → 14. Hari Singh — the Thakur named in the royal letters of S.1865, S.1867 and S.1917.
From the Aau house: 12. Chhatar Singh (son of Khinvkaran) → 13. Mul Singh → 14. Sivnath Singh.
10. Achaldas (son of Ranchhordas) → 11. Pem Singh → 12. Raybhan → 13. Fateh Singh → 14. Rawat Singh → 15. Pirdan.
Held by Surtansingh (son of Rajsingh) after it was resumed from the Rupawats. A village generation list in the family papers runs: Sur Singhji → Sivdan Singhji → Sagram Singhji → Bankidas ji → Rao Sihaji → Harnath Singhji → Guman Singhji, then Jodh Singhji, Indrabhan ji, Sagram Singhji, Bag Singhji, Mokam Singhji, Jugat Singhji, Chiman Singhji (list under committee verification).
Other recorded holdings: Bhiyasar 4,500 rekh · Balasar 500 · Nokhda 500 · Jerio 1,000. The Census of Marwar 1941 lists around eighteen Phalodi-pargana villages under Patawat jagirdari.
A page of the printed khyat sets out individuals in the old bardic form — a generation number, a name, and the father's name (the Rajasthani rau, "son of"). Counted from Rao Pato Ji, it reads:
3. Jagahath, of Pata · 3. Rathore Lumbho, of Pata · 2. Meha, of Jagahath · 4. Rindhir, of Jagahath · 5. Lakho, of Rindhir Jagahathot · 5. Tejsi, of Rindhir · 5. Jalap, of Rindhir · 6. Hemraj, of Lakha · 6. Natho, of Lakha · 6. Tilokdas, of Lakha · 7. Dudo, of Hemraj · 7. Vagho, of Hemraj · 7. Deidas, of Natha (recorded as being at Ajmer) · 5. Saihso, of Meha · 6. Sidho, of Kanha · 6. Jeso, of Kanha · 7. Sadul, of Sidh · 7. Dudo, of Jesa · 8. Jago, of Duda · 8. Balu, of Nimba
Of Lumbho, son of Pata — four sons: Aso, Pitho, Mohap and Devo.
Of Pitha Lumbhawat — five sons: Saihso, Sado, Deidas, Malo and Surtan.
Of Saihsa Pithawat — Mado, Kanho … the list continues on the following page of the book, which is not among the scanned pages.
Generation numbers in the source are not always consistent, and a few names carry alternative spellings; the list is published as printed and marked under review. Source: printed khyat, page 220; English translation July 2026. See Documents & Archives.
Every line above appears in at least one primary or published source, and the core Aau line appears identically in three: the published clan history (Patawaton ka Itihas), the printed thikana table, and the royal letters of the Jodhpur court naming "Hari Singh Sarup Singhot" of Aau. Where the khyat gives more names than the published history — for example the four sons of Ranchhordas (Sanwaldas, Achaldas, Jagrup Singh, Devkaran) against the two landholding lines — both records are kept, and the difference is noted rather than resolved silently. Readings still marked uncertain are with the History Committee.
