The Patawat clan traces its ancestry to Rao Pato Ji, a son of Rao Ranmal of Marwar, who was granted the village of Karnu and became the founder of this branch of the Rathore dynasty. ✓ Verified

Acquired Mandore c. 1395–1400 through a Pratihara marriage alliance, making it the Rathore capital. Killed in 1423 by the Bhatis of Pugal.
Ruled Marwar 1428–1438. Assassinated at Chittor Fort on Diwali night, 27 October 1438, by Mewar nobles.
Received the village of Karnu in Samvat 1532 (1475 CE) from his brother Rao Jodha, as a brother's share, and became the ancestor of the Patawat clan.
