A handwritten genealogical chronicle (khyaat) held at the Rajasthan State Archives, Bikaner (Basta 12, Granthank 61) titled “आऊ री ख्यात” has been transcribed into a draft reading. Most names in the cursive Marwari text are tentative and marked uncertain by the transcriber — this is not yet verified and stays out of search results until family elders and the original archive confirm it.

Aau in the records

Aau was the seat of the senior line descending from Kilandas (grandson of Rao Pato Ji) — the largest Patawat thikana, assessed at 5,000 rekh, with Bhiyasar (4,500) and Balasar pertaining to it. Its generation line runs unbroken for fourteen generations to Thakur Hari Singh — see the Genealogy page. Three royal letters of the Jodhpur court — of S.1865 (1808), S.1867 (1810) and S.1917 (1860) — are addressed to the thakurs of Aau, including Maharaja Man Singh's commendation for the defence of Phalodi; English renderings are in Documents & Archives. The Census of Marwar 1941 records Aau as a jagir village of 5,000 rekh with a population of 1,814 in 1901.

⌛ Under Review A khyat sheet in the family papers records how the village itself was won: in Samvat 1800 (the figure is not fully legible) Maharaja Abhay Singh sent an army against Bikaner and went himself, taking Ranchhoddas along. In the battle with the men of Bikaner, Ranchhoddas and Jalam Singh took the field and Sanwaldas took wounds and fell in action. For that service the Maharaja, being pleased, granted the village of Au in inayat. Ranchhoddas left four sons: Sanwaldas, Achaldas, Jagrup Singh and Devkaran.
